Census Day is April 1, 2010.

10 Questions/10 Minutes.

Make a Difference.

Make History.

You will receive the 2010 Census questionnaire in March.  Please fill it out and return it promptly.  This form is confidential.  A preview of the census form can be found here.  In the 2000 Census, only 56% of Lincoln County Residents returned the form.  There is much room for improvement.  An accurate census count is vital to our community and residents' well-being.  All U.S. Residents must be counted - both citizens and non citizens.  Below are a few things to keep in mind with the 2010 Census:

  • Census information helps in planning decisions such as for better healthcare, better schools, and better transportation.
  • Achieves an accurate and complete count of Lincoln County's growing and changing population.
  • Census data also helps to apportion Congress and define state legislative districts as well as voting and local government district boundaries.
  • More than $400 billion per year in federal and state funding is allocated to states and communities based, in part, on census data.  For Wyoming that is between $100 - $500 lost federal grant money for each Wyoming resident not counted.
  • The State of Wyoming distributes various tax revenue based on census data.  Utilizing Fiscal Year 2008 data, municipalities could lose an estimated $823 in tax revenue per person not counted.  Counties could lose an estimated $770 in tax revenue per person not counted.
