TAX SALE
CURRENT YEAR TAXES ELIGIBLE FOR SALE
TAX SALE PROCESS
- TYPICALLY SIGN IN IS FROM 8:00-9:00 AM
- TAX BUYERS MUST ATTEND THE SALE. PARENTS, RELATIVES, AND FRIENDS CAN NOT PURCHASE IN THE NAME OF ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL. MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE.
- EACH BUYER IS ASSIGNED A NUMBER AT SIGN IN. ONE PERSON CAN NOT SIGN IN MORE THAN ONCE AND RECEIVE MORE THAN ONE NUMBER.
- A NUMBER IS DRAWN, THAT NUMBER (TAX BUYER) CAN ACCEPT OR DECLINE TO PURCHASE. IF THE BUYER CHOOSES TO DECLINE, THAT NUMBER WILL STILL BE HELD OUT UNTIL ALL NUMBERS HAVE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE.
- ONCE ALL NUMBERS HAVE BEEN DRAWN, THE PROCESS IS REPEATED UNTIL ALL ELIGIBLE TAXES ARE SOLD.
- ONCE YOU HAVE ACCEPTED TO PURCHASE THERE WILL BE NO TRADING BETWEEN BUYERS.
- WHEN THE TAX SALE HAS COMMENCED, PAYMENT WILL BE TAKEN INTO THE TREASURER'S OFFICE. THE TAX BUYER ASSIGNED TO THE CERTIFICATE OF PURCHASE MUST MAKE THE PAYMENT.
CERTIFICATE OF PURCHASE
- BANKRUPTCY WILL STOP THE COLLECTION OF INTEREST
- NO REASSIGNMENTS WILL BE ALLOWED ON SALE DATE
- CERTIFICATE OF PURCHASE IS $20.00
- ISSUANCE OF A TREASURER'S DEED IS $25.00
- REASSIGNMENT FEE IS $25.00
- TREASURER'S OFFICE WILL RETAIN ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE OF PURCHASE, AND COPIES WILL BE MAILED TO BUYERS WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- 3% INTEREST IS APPLIED TO ORIGINAL REDEMPTION AMOUNT, WITH ADDITIONAL 15% APPLIED TO DAYS HELD SINCE TAX SALE DATE. INTEREST ON SUBSEQUENT TAXES SHALL BE 15%
- IF YOUR CERTIFICATE OF PURCHASE PROPERTY OWNER FAILS TO REDEEM OR PAY CURRENT YEAR TAXES BY THE END OF DECEMBER OF THE CURRENT YEAR, THE TREASURER'S OFFICE THEN WILL BILL YOU FOR THOSE TAXES TO BE PAID IN FULL. YOU CAN EXPECT THIS BILL IN JANUARY.
- OWNER REDEMPTION AND OTHER SPECIFIC STATUTORY PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE OVERALL TAX SALE PROCESS CAN BE FOUND UNDER WYOMING STATUTES 39-13-108(E). OFFICE PERSONNEL ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO PROVIDE LEGAL ADVICE, NOR ANSWER QUESTIONS PERTAINING TO LEGALITY ISSUES.
