Lincoln County Search and Rescue

The Star Valley Search and Rescue (SVSAR) Lincoln County Search and Rescue (LCSAR) is a totally volunteer organization dedicated to finding lost and injured individuals and returning them to safety or the proper care. SVSAR and LCSAR operates at the direction of the Lincoln County Sheriff.

SVSAR and LCSAR area of operation is within the political boundaries of Lincoln County, Wyoming. We will operate outside the county and  state of Wyoming upon the request of other agencies and the approval of the Lincoln County Sheriff.

Search and Rescue services, we provide include:
Water, Horseback, surface vehicle, Over the Snow and foot Searches.
High and low angle rescues
Tracking of lost individuals
Avalanche Rescue
Emergency Locator- Transmitter Tracking

Services we do not provide
Air Search and Rescues
EMT Service
Canine Search teams

Should these services be deemed necessary by the search administrator, arrangements will be made to call in certified teams in the disciplines required.

Community Service is our goal and to further that goal we also provide the following programs:

Children Safety in the backcountry
Avalanche Safety Classes
Limited Security service to nonprofit organizations, events as approved by the Lincoln County Sheriff.

Lincoln County has two SAR Teams Star Valley Search and Rescue and Lincoln County Search and Rescue. Both teams are directed by a commander, under the direction of the Lincoln County Sheriff. Star Valley Search and Rescue Home Base is in the town of Afton. Lincoln County Search and Rescue home base is in the town of Kemmerer. Both Work together to provide the service that is needed as quickly as possible.

Our Search and Rescue teams are dedicated volunteers, who give their time, hearts and talents to serve their neighbors, and communities. Their only reward is the knowledge that they have helped their fellow person who was in need.
